Need for Translation

There are so many things we take for granted in the west, where centuries of Gospel preaching has had so much effect on the culture: - Easy access to a reliably translated Bible, Churches with trained pastors, Assemblies with experienced, Godly elders, role models, Bible Schools, Bible Commentaries, inspiring autobiographies, packed bookshops, teaching resources, the list could go on. It is not until you go to Armenia that you realise just how much we have! Seventy years of Communism has had its effect on Armenia, too. Unfortunately, a Christian heritage was not one of the things it left behind! After its fall over 15 years ago, there was a great move of the Spirit on the country and many were saved. Of course, we all praise God for such a revival. But churches full of young Christians have their own, special needs. How can these people be grounded in the Word of God, so that they will be able to stand in the day of difficulty? Who will teach? Who will lead? Who will be an example to them? We believe much can be accomplished through the written word.

Bible Translation

The primary objective is the translation of the Holy Scriptures into the Eastern Armenian Language. This is a led by Sona Pambakian and is a joint venture with the Trinitarian Bible Society, based in London, and a number of translators in Armenia. So far the Gospel of John has been published and 50,000 copies have been distributed in Armenia. The New Testament is completed and awaiting publication, and work has begun on the Old Testament.

Current Projects

  1. Translation of the New Tribes Mission “Children’s Edition, Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ” Course has just been completed. This excellent course consists of 40 lessons, printed on the back of an A3 size picture, so children will see the picture and the teacher can use the notes on the back! The course builds a foundation of truth in its hearers, taking each Bible story and placing it in its historical and spiritual context and emphasizing:
God – His character and attributes
Man – His relationship to his creator, God, and his need for a Saviour
Jesus Christ – God the Son, and the Only Saviour of all who trust in Him.
These lessons will be printed in large quantity and supplied (Free of Charge!) by Revival Movement & Every Home Crusade, Belfast. We are extremely grateful for this generous and immensely useful contribution.
  2. Work is currently underway on The Autobiography of George Muller: “Delighted in God” and a number of tracts written and supplied by Evangelist Roger Carswell, and “Church Principles for Today” by Rowan Jennings.
  3. AM is in the process of re-printing an Armenian Christian Novel in Poetry by Misha Svarian, one of the Bible Translating Team. If you would like a copy of the English translation, please e-mail us.

Future Aims

We also intend to start, as soon as possible, a monthly Christian journal, in which many translated works, both autobiographies and certain studies and sermons can be serialized and distributed freely among Christians. Not everyone will pick up a thick commentary, but the same information placed in a nice glossy journal is sometimes so much easier to pick up! We are particularly concerned for the many who have not been accustomed to any type of constructive Christian reading.
